We work with both PayPal and Stripe, so your donors will have to choose one of these payment processors to process their donations. It is optimal to connect Stripe and PayPal to Donorbox but connecting both is not mandatory. Stripe/PayPal will always directly handle the funds that you raise through our donation forms.
If you connect both PayPal and Stripe, this will provide your donors as many payment options as possible. However, if you would prefer using one payment processor, Stripe is the preferred option as it provides a quicker checkout process in comparison to PayPal. This is because donors can enter card details directly to the donation form and they do not have to create a Stripe account to donate to you. Stripe also supports ACH direct bank donations (for US-based organizations), Apple Pay, and Google Pay donations where PayPal doesn't.
Additionally, PayPal can offer some restrictions based on location. While it may be possible for some donors to use a guest checkout to donate through PayPal, others may require to create or log in to an existing PayPal account.
