SEPA is a direct debit payment method that is popular with donors in the European Union. Setting up SEPA on your Stripe account is an easy process, with some options to consider.
- It is recommended to obtain a SEPA Creditor Identifier from your bank or financial institution. A Creditor Identifier is a unique reference for organizations collecting payments by SEPA Direct Debit. Having your own Creditor Identifier not only reduces the likelihood of payments being disputed but allows your organization name to appear on the bank/credit card statement of your donors. Once obtained, you can configure SEPA Direct Debit on the Stripe Payment Method page and enter your Creditor Identifier.
- You can use a default Creditor Identifier provided by Stripe, however, donations will appear as “Stripe Payments Company” on your donor’s bank/credit card statements.
How do I add my creditor identifier to my Stripe settings?
Log into your Stripe Payment Method page. Configure the SEPA Direct Debit option and enter your creditor identifier. Click Configure and you should be all set!
