How are expired cards or new card numbers handled for recurring donations?

In the majority of cases, a saved card will continue to work after it has expired. This is because of the smarter card save feature from our payment processor, Stripe. Therefore, updating the expiration date of a saved card is not required!

If the card number changes, we will send your recurring donor an email to ask him/her to re-enter the card number. If an expired card doesn't get charged, the same step is followed. Each donor has a Donorbox donor login that they can use to update their payment information at any time.
